This appears to be my second zoom-in-on-my-drink-and-leave-the-background-a-little-blurry picture in 3 days. Believe it or not I thought I was being original at the time...Please note the sea lion sunning itself on the dock in the background, as it took me a few tries to get him in there : )

I was feeling a little blah today so I decided to do my old standby mood lifter equation: Katelyn+walking+camera+food+impulse purchase=happy. It worked pretty well too, during my travels I bought a hand knit alpaca sweater that I am wearing at this very moment. I had a great conversation with the women who knit it and was pleased that I understood and responded correctly to pretty much everything she said. Sometimes I get so focused on how much Spanish that's left to learn, I don't realize the progress I've made in the time I've been here. After I bought my sweater, I headed down to a path that ran parallel to the river and bought mote con huesillos, or something like that. It is a traditional drink composed of peach juice, a whole dried peach that is then rehydrated in boiling water, and a wheat berry type grain that sort of floats around near the bottom. My description may have sounded a little odd, but the drink is actually really tasty and I had been meaning to buy one for a long time. I took some pictures, ran into a few gringos that I knew from school, and headed home feeling refreshed.
