I just had a very fulfilling Friday, and it makes me realize how lucky I am to be in this position. Lately I have been a little homesick for Chile, which I try not to dwell on because I want to enjoy my time here as much as possible. The best thing I can do for myself is to keep busy exploring all that Buenos Aires has to offer so that I don't have any unfinished business here or regrets when I leave in 20 days. The first thing I did right today was to get enough sleep, which consequently made my 4 hours of studying Spanish prepositions a lot more enjoyable than they were yesterday, go figure. After class I had a nice little chat with another American girl that lives in my house. Since we have both lived in Chile, and now Argentina, we have this duo perspective of the relationship between the two rival countries that not many people understand. After that conversation I went over to the apartment of my professor from last months intensive course with my friend Pamela. We are both taking private lessons from her for the next 3 Fridays from 6-8pm. She is the best Spanish teacher I have encountered in all my years of studying the language, so I couldn't be happier with the extra learning time. From there, Pamela and I went directly to her new apartment where she lives with 3 other guys. Only one was there and free to hang out with us, but he's a very chatty guy so we ended up talking until almost 4am. Very good Spanish practice to say the least, since he knows almost no English. So yes, other than feeling sick to my stomach at the moment I am extremely pleased with how today turned out. Plus, there is the added bonus of knowing that with each day that passes, I get closer and closer to the day that I return to Valdivia a more confident and well rounded person than when I left.
