Today I watched "Spinal Tap" for the first time with Marcelo and Devin. Marcelo warned me before that it was one of those dumb but hilarious movies and I was certainly not disappointed : )
I also learned from Marcelo's brother Tomás that if I want to say that I suck at something it goes, "me fue como el hoyo," which literally translates to "it went for me like the butt." I really liked that one and I think I will utilize it when the need arises. Again, I absolutely love hanging out at Devin's host family's house because I feel like part of the gang. I was there toasting bread for dinner and helping set the table with Tomás and chatting with him about his day. Even though my Spanish is not perfect I don't feel as self-conscious about it when I'm over there. Plus, the fact that they are practically my neighbors makes it all the more quaint and unlike anything I've ever experienced in the US. In some ways, it feels like I am reliving high school, but making up for everything that I didn't get to experience the first time around. I live at home with my family, I can't drive, I don't cook for myself, I go to a much smaller school and have classes with a lot of the same people. It's been a really interesting change for me and I'm loving it so far.
