So apparently 3 in the morning is a good time to write a blog entry...I figure I shouldn't fight the urge and just go with it because I'll sleep better afterwards. Today Theresa and I walked a solid hour and a half, talking about our experience abroad the whole time of course. I think since we never hung out the past semester we are sort of making up for lost time, and it turns out we have a lot in common. We ran into my friend Cachorro, which immediately set me up with plans to hang out with him tonight, and then to help him with his English homework tomorrow. I also remembered to stop by the French Alliance to get my French books and found out that I can stop by whenever I want to get help with studying...that will be a great resource and its right by my house. Later Theresa and I headed back to my house where we ate a bit of dinner and hung out with my host brother Marco. After that I went out to dinner with her host family and all I can say is that Theresa is one lucky girl and she knows it. Her family is fantastic and I am so excited by the possibility of spending more time with them and Theresa this semester. I then sprinted (on a full stomach I might add...) to meet up with Cachorro at 11 and when I got there let out a really big burp...haha I had to mention it because it was quite funny at the time. I hung out with Cachorro and his friends who I had actually already met last semester, and Theresa joined us later. It made me happy that one of the guys mentioned that my Spanish was a lot better since he had last seen me, although maybe he was just trying to get on my good side...Theresa and I decided to have a more low key evening so instead of heading over with Cachorro and his friends to a dance club, we walked to a local favorite bar near my house. Marcelo had just gotten off work as barman there so he sat down and finished his beer with us before eventually taking off, leaving us to talk even more about how much we loved being here in Chile this year. Around 3 the bar closed, I walked home, and the rest is history. I feel like it was a very satisfying evening. I walked around a lot, met some nice people, ate some delicious food, and shot the breeze with some good friends. I really couldn't have asked for a better start to the weekend. By Chilean standards, 3am is pretty early to call it a night, but I feel like I accomplished a lot in that time, plus I have not taken to the Chilean habit of sleeping in until 2pm the next day...gross.
