I just got back from two days at the beach with my friend Cachorro and 3 of his friends. I was a little nervous before, just because I didn't know what to expect and I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up with all the rapid fire slang that Chileans my age tend to use. I was presently surprised to find that despite all that time in Argentina studying only the most academic forms of Spanish, I can still understand the stuff that is actually spoken on a daily basis. I had a great time, and I am thoroughly enjoying the company of my new host family. Life back in Valdivia is going even better than I had imagined when I was missing Chile while in Argentina.
